No, it will not make you bulky. Yes, it will build your confidence and boost your happiness!
I have found that the best way to build a lean and healthy physique is a combination of strength training, high intensity cardio (working smarter, not longer), and a balanced approach to nutrition. Together, these three make for a pretty feisty combo, and I have seen far greater results than I was ever able to achieve in my days as a cardio bunny [even though I still enjoy a good long run every now and then].
I was skeptical of strength training for a long while. I closely observed the weight floor from my treadmill, and followed fitness journeys on various blogs and Instagram accounts before finally mustering up the courage to leave the security of the cardio equipment and venture into the free weights section.
I’m sure anyone who saw my first strength training ‘workout’ was quick to notice that I had absolutely z e r o idea as to what I was doing [I’ve come to learn that most people are too focused on their own workouts to even notice others], but I was hooked immediately. I knew I had the potential to transform my body a n d my mindset, and I felt so empowered to learn more and push harder.
The best part about strength training? A N Y O N E can do it! There are so many different exercises and unlimited modifications . . . start with what you C A N do, and progressively build up from there. Warning: the progress can become addictive.
I’m currently strength training 5-6 days a week, finishing with 10 minutes of steady state cardio, and intuitively eating [mostly] fresh & wholesome foods!
